AAUA Holds Roundtable on National Confab

As part of its contribution to the National Conference to be inaugurated today, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, on Thursday last week held a Roundtable to provide an intellectual platform for the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Femi Mimiko, who is a delegate at the Conference.

Prof. Mimiko is the only serving Vice Chancellor and one of the 64 Professors nominated for the Conference.

The Roundtable was attended by all the Principal Officers of the University, Professors, Deans of Faculty, Directors of Centre, Heads of Department/Unit and senior academics and administrators.

The Chair of the Roundtable and incumbent Chair of the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, said the essence of the forum was to further equip the Vice Chancellor, a Professor of International Relations of international repute, with a robust intellectual platform for brainstorming on some of the challenges facing the country and the strategies to be employed in articulating the issues at the National Conference.

He noted that the VC is a political scientist, who is highly knowledgeable about the contemporary socio-political challenges facing our country and understands all the issues perfectly well.

In his remark, Prof. Mimiko said, "I consider myself the most privileged member of the delegates to the Conference because I have the resourcefulness of a University behind me. I therefore believe that we must make a difference as a delegate who has this assemblage of eggheads."

He expressed the hope that the National Conference would be successful.

Keynote Speakers at the forum were the Dean, Faculty of Science, Prof. Victor Olumekun and the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Mr. Adedayo Adedeji.
